Martin L. Ludwig developed a love for cinema and camera work at a very early age. During his school days, he shot numerous short films, music videos and visual experiments on various formats.

Martin then studied cinematography at the renowned Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, where he honed his technical skills and developed his unique artistic vision.

In 2023, Ludwig shot the film “I Am! Margot Friedländer” (Director: Raymond Ley), which won the 2024 Grimme Award, the German Television Award for Best Picture, the Robert Geissendörfer Award, the Blue Panther for Directing and Screenplay, and the Audience Award at the TeleVisionale Festival in Baden-Baden.

For “The Decision” (directed by Nicolas Bori), he received a Shark Award for best new DOP and was recognized for best student camerawork at the 2020 New York Festivals Advertising Awards. That same year, “The Decision” won gold for outstanding cinematography at the Cresta Awards.

He has a particular eye for light and uses it to enhance the mood and atmosphere of a film. In his work, he often experiments with different techniques, uses unconventional camera angles and plays with colors to create visual impressions that draw the viewer into the story.

Martin works closely with directors and actors to bring their visions to life on screen. He knows that each project is unique and adapts his style to suit the needs of the particular movie. Today, he is based in Berlin and is available for projects worldwide.
